Recyle - Reuse

It seems as though so many things in our life can be reused, but where?
I now have a stack of magazines and catalogs to get rid of. Does anyone have
a place to take them locally instead of the recycle bin?

I also saw an article about reusing prescription bottles. Of course, I have no idea where I put the article, so if you know of anyone who can reuse these items, let me know.

Does your group need items we might all be able to donate? Let us know.

Thanks!

I asked for help recycling prescription bottles - I thought maybe someone could re-use them. Terri Hohiemer wrote me:

I use the ReCon waste services and also use their recycle services ($7 per month extra). They recycle most items, so I checked with them about prescription bottles. They only take #1 and #2 plastics at this time, but he said that Cycle Plastics in Austin may take them. Recon’s office number is 512-894-4441.

Hays County has a Household Hazardous Collection event this Saturday, October 18th. Go to their website www.co.hays.tx.us, click on Departments, click on Recycling and Solid Waste, click on Household Hazordous Waste Collection Event.

Its a good time to get rid of those items in your garage you have not used and won't be using.

Hi ladies - I found my newspaper clipping that listed all the reuse/recyle places:

Pill Bottles: Bethany United Methodist Church, 10010 Anderson Mill Road, 258-6017. They take your pill bottles (labels removed) to send to a clinic in Mogadishu, Somalia. I can drop them off about once every two months or so. I go to a quilt store on Anderson Mill Road and it won't be out of my way.
Just leave your bottles in the newspaper opening in my mailbox.

Eyeglasses - Most optical places take them to the Lion's Club. I know Lenscrafters and Today's Vision take them.

Cell Phones: www.recellular.com/recycling/data_erasur.....Also Megabyte Express on Burnet Road, Safeplace on Grove Bldg and Cell Phones for Soldiers
at Any AT&T store or go to www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com

Televisions: Earth Protection Systems on Gattis School Road in Round Rock, Goodwill Computer Works on Norwood Park Blvd (or go to www.austincomputer-works.org or
Round2 Technologies on Stassney Lane (www.round2.net)

The Austin American Statesman had an article about recyling/reusing in the Austin area on April 22, 2008 in the Life and Arts section.
I have a copy of that article. If you would like it, let me know. I will send it to you.
